College students face penalties for sharing music files
Students at some Hudson Valley colleges who illegally share digital, copyrighted music could end up doing community service, shut off from Internet use — or thrown out of school — as a penalty.
The Recording Industry Association of America, which represents the Universal, Warner, Sony and EMI record labels, had for years filed lawsuits against those it accused of engaging in music piracy. LINK
